Currituck County 4-H will be hosting a series of equine science classes and horse show prep clinics from January through March.

Equine Science Series is for youth ages 8 to18 who want to learn more about horses or explore a career in the horse industry. These interactive educational sessions will provide participants the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and skills on every aspect of the horse industry. We will explore the horse from the inside out and learn about the industry itself with particular emphasis on career opportunities. We will also highlight all of the opportunities available in the NC 4-H Equine Science Program. These classes will be a great opportunity for youth interested in competing in the NC 4-H Horse Bowl and Horse Judging 2024 competitions.

 January 12: Horse Bowl Prep

January 26: Horse Bowl Prep

February 2: Horse Bowl Prep

February 16: State Horse Bowl Prep

March 8: Horse Judging Prep

March 22: Horse Judging Prep

All Equine Science Classes will be held at the Currituck Extension Center , 120 Community Way, Barco NC 27917 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Equine science classes

Horse Show Prep Clinics Currituck County 4-H will host three clinics to help youth and adults prepare for any upcoming horse shows. The clinics offered will provide instruction in all western and hunter events and participants will rotate through small group classes focused on a specific topic. Registered participants will also have the opportunity to identify specific areas for which they would like to have help on the class agenda. Participants will have the option to bring their own horse or just audit the clinics. Clinic dates are January 6, February 3, and March 2, 2024, 10 a.m. -1 p.m., rain or shine inside the covered arena. All horses must have a negative coggins dated within 12 months. Clinics will be held at the Currituck County Rural Center 184 Milburn. Sawyer Rd , Powells Point NC 27966. Register for horse show clinics online.

Registration in 4-H online is required for all youth
