Tree Fruit & Nut Resources

Apples

Apple production in North Carolina is 7th in the nation, with Rome, Golden Delicious, and Delicious apples as their core varieties. NC State University’s research has focused on successful training, pruning techniques, variety timing, blooming, rootstocks, tree spacing, and density to evolve the commercial apple orchard management industry.

Peaches

Extension agents and growers can find research-based information specific to North Carolina peach production; with information originating through multi-disciplinary resources. The Peach Growers Information portal is a culmination of efforts from the Department of Horticultural Science, Agricultural and Resource Economics, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Biological, and Agricultural Engineering or the State Climate Office.
