Collapse ▲The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) and N.C. Cooperative Extension are helping coordinate donations of hay and feed supplies to Western North Carolina farmers, many of whose herds and supplies were hit hard by Hurricane Helene.
While the number and severity of livestock emergencies in Western North Carolina has declined significantly, many farmers remain in need and donations of hay are still being accepted. Several locations throughout the region are working with Extension and NCDA&CS to receive hay donations and distribute them to local producers.
If you are able to donate hay or feed supplies — and need assistance transporting the donation to its destination — please complete this brief form:
I WANT TO DONATE HAY OR FEED SUPPLIES
*If you are able to transport your hay donations to a distribution or storage center yourself, you do not need to complete the form. Instead, please use this calendar tool to schedule your delivery. But be mindful that hazardous road conditions continue and truck routes are still limited in some areas affected by Helene.
The information you provide will be shared with Extension offices and NCDA&CS, who are coordinating distribution efforts with local authorities. If you previously completed the form but have not been contacted yet, we will be in touch soon.
The support and donations for farmers affected by Helene have been remarkably generous. The ag community continues to show up for their neighbors and it is greatly appreciated!
