Collapse ▲Many herds and homes in Western North Carolina have been hit hard by Hurricane Helene. The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) is helping to connect farmers who have lost their feed supply during the disaster with others who have hay or feed to donate.
In particular, State Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler has issued an urgent plea for donations of fencing supplies — especially solar fence chargers — for livestock producers. If you are able to assist livestock producers through housing animals and/or providing feed, fencing or other supplies, please complete this brief form:
Offer or Request Livestock Assistance
The form asks if you need help or want to help. To donate, click on the ‘Want to Help’ button, then you will be asked for contact information and items you have to donate.
The information in this form will be shared with N.C. Cooperative Extension offices and NCDA&CS, who are working with local authorities to determine routes for moving livestock within and from the area. PLEASE DO NOT ACT ON YOUR OWN! Many roads are not safe or passable, and unauthorized access will slow down recovery efforts.
Thank you for your willingness to help. If needed, you will be contacted by someone from NC State or NCDA&CS.
