Collapse ▲The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at NC State University is focused on providing support and assistance to members of the CALS and agricultural communities affected by Hurricane Helene.
“The impact of Hurricane Helene on our students, families, faculty, staff and agricultural communities in Western North Carolina is profound,” says CALS Dean Garey Fox. “Many of us have friends, colleagues and family navigating the aftermath — including those in our county Extension offices and research stations. Please know that the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences supports you during this difficult time. We are in this together.”
Recovery Resources and Updates
Chancellor Randy Woodson has provided a list of resources for students who may need assistance following the storm. Find a list of CALS-related relief efforts for students, faculty and staff who may want to help.
NC State Extension leaders are meeting daily for updates and to help coordinate efforts to supply aid and services to those in the state who most need it. The North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services and NC State research stations across the system are serving as staging areas for relief efforts, including receiving and allocating animal feed and hay as needed, and diesel and gas for emergency responder vehicles and equipment.
The N.C. Disaster Information Center website, coordinated by NC State Extension, has information on numerous resources available in the wake of Helene, and will continue to share timely updates, including:
