September has been National Preparedness Month, but just because September is coming to an end, doesn’t mean that you are off the hook. Preparedness should be a year round priority at home, work, school or wherever you go.

North Carolina faces a wide variety of natural disasters and each one requires specific preparations. Your first priority should be to make sure that your family is safe and can survive without power, running water, and communications.

Check out FEMA’s PrepareAthon web site to learn more about preparing for hazards such as Earthquakes, Floods, Hurricanes, Tornados, Wildfires, and Winter Storms. All of these hazards can impact North Carolina so now is the time to be prepared.
