During Stressful Times, Protect Yourself From Scammers

— Written By

September is National Disaster Preparedness Month.

As if a pandemic wasn’t enough, add an earth quake, forest fires, floods, and 15 named tropical systems/hurricanes to your list of stressors. This weeks message is brought to you from the Office for Older Americans Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Scammers take advantage of people during stressful times, like a natural disaster or health emergency. Protect yourself and loved ones by learning the warning signs of disaster-related scams and sharing new CFPB placemats and related handouts. Check out our blog post to learn more.

We’re excited to announce that we added new formats to our fraud prevention placemat series. You can order PDF handouts, posters to display on bulletin boards, table tents to place in lobbies or on dining tables, and bookmarks, in addition to the placemats. All are available in English and Spanish, and all are available to order for free!

Check out our blog now to learn more about how to avoid and report disaster-related scams. Order free copies of placemats, posters, handouts, table tents, and bookmarks.
